"The Slowlight Quartet may comprise of four highly accomplished musicians, each making beautiful sounds, but the whole is bigger than the parts. So it’s not a matter of just a locked in - tight as owt – rhythm section with a jaw droppingly wonderful saxophonist, but a band enmeshed in the communal groove. The Slowlight Quartet share a musical brain" (bebopspokenhere.blog)
The Slowlight Quartet combine a love of great melodies, catchy chords and exciting rhythms to create accessible modern melodic jazz which will make your heart soar. Influenced by EST, Portico Quartet, Neil Cowley and Cinematic Orchestra they nonetheless are forging their own path and developing a distinctive and unique voice. Recent gigs at well established jazz venues such as Matt & Phreds and Zeffirellis, festival appearances at Manchester International Jazz Festival and Sage Gateshead International Jazz Festival and a support slot with Stuart McCallum (Cinematic Orchestra) show this band are making serious strides forward only 13 months after playing their first gig. Their debut EP ‘In Flight’ was released on May 25th 2014 with a sell-out gig featuring a string quartet and live visuals. The band are also very proud to have been selected to be on round two of Jazz North’s ‘Northern Line’ touring scheme.
